Airliner of the Month

Airliner of the Month

A highly polished, and likely brand new, American Convair 990 “ASTROJET” captured by Jon Proctor at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport in the fall of 1962. Only 37 of this type were produced after design problems limited their cruising speed from the planned 635 MPH to well under 600 MPH. The plane had originally been purposed to be faster than any other jetliner of the time.
